God's will?

Sierra Rain says:
I recently visited BeliefNet and found this interresting question posed.

Is it God's will that we experience what seems like it could be global economic collapse?

Posed by Neale Donald Walsch--who I know nothing about except that he seems to have written a book. I thought the question led to some interresting insights.

I say no. I do not believe that the Gods and Goddesses directly trifle in our daily lives, especially in regards to things that would cause us harm and misfortunes. Nope, I believe this is all "our" doing. Our meaning mankind.

That's like saying it was the Gods will for me to be habitually raped for 10 years. Why would they want to torment me and cause that kind of trauma, that is all the will of my abuser.

Aww Verony, I am in a great place in life now. That is part of what makes me ME and I am smiling each day so I leave it where it belongs, in the past :)

I am glad you are in a good place Leah. I also agree with you. I believe we are here to make choices and experience the consequences of those choices. Unfortunately the choices of others can have terrible consequences for the innocent. As far as the economy is concerned--I for one have not been paying close enough attention as I should have been. I think we have a responsibility to educate ourselves and look out for one another. I don't know if that would have changed a thing. But--I've got no leg to stand on now--because I wasn't paying attention before. Anyway--If that makes any sense. I'll leave it at that.

Thats a great attitude to have Leah and i'm glad your in a great place now. Some times Sierra no matter how much we educate our selfs and how much we look out for each other, some things are beyond our control.

I totally agree. I still feel a responsibility to try. Child trafficking for instance. The very thought that that is a reality for any children makes me want to bury my head in the sand and say it can't be so. It is so. I know I can't stop it. And yet I must do what I can--even if all I can do is pray. Does that make sense? I agree that most things are beyond our sphere of infuence and yet I can't help but feel the need to be accountable in some way--awake--aware--alert. These are things I am working on--not things I profess to be good at.
