I used the black and white tint on the picture and layered it over a color copy so the edges of the pictures still look colored. The picture has a "simple soft edge". The background is just a solid color that I changed the opacity on until I got the right color. I used the eyedropper tool to get the color of the text to match that of the flowers on the bottom of the page.
