First, on your computer put all your photos in one location, for instance, My Pictures or some file you create. Once you get this done, open up Scrapbook Flair. You want to create new project. Once you get this done, its easy. All backgrounds, embellishments, and other items such as text are embedded into the software. Once you get this down, I'll give you another tutorial. Try selecting a background first. You are actually working in layers but in a digital format.

First, open Scrapbook Flair Software Click on Create New Project Click on Start a Blank Project Select a Background Theme from the drop down box I chose Basic Solids-Red, then click ok On the left menu tool bar you can choose paper size I chose 12x12 Once you click ok you will see your background color displayed. On the left menu bar you will see Page Options and at the top menu bar you will notice several other options. On the left you can select to add photos, text, or embellishment. If you are working on several pages for a single scrapbook, you will notice on the top menu bar Page. This allows you to add pages to your scrapbook. Play around with Scrapbook Flair as it gives you the basics of working in layers which is what some of the more sophisticated software like PhotoShop uses. Remember you can always select Undo if you don't like anything. See my home page titled "And they called it Puppy Love for this tutorial. Hope this helps get you started.
