Hi, I'm just learning, but I did this last night. First you extract all your brush files. Then you copy them. Then you find the right gimp folder to copy them into. I'm on Windows so to do that I clicked on My Computer, C drive, Program files, gimp folder, share folder, gimp folder, 2 folder, brushes folder. Once you open the brushes folder you can paste them there. Re-start gimp and they should be there. HTH :) Could you post the link where you found the brushes?

Not sure if that link worked. But this is a good tutorial. It's what I am working on now. If that doesn't work try to google: Sams Teach Yourself Gimp in 24 Hours.

Make sure that your single brushes end in the file extension .gbr. You can also make animated brushes using .gih. Save them in file folder for GIMP: Look for C: > Documents and Settings > Your Name/User Name (mine says Terri) > .gimp2.0 (or whatever version you are using, I've been using the test release version of 2.4) > brushes. You won't see any other files in this folder, this is just for the ones you make and add on so don't panic. When you go back into GIMP open up the brushes dialog (where all of the brushes a displayed) If you don't know where that it is, go to Dialogs on the top menu, click on brushes. You'll see a little swirly icon on the bottom right, two yin/yang looking arrows. Click on this. It's a refresh button. GIMP should now have added your saved brush.
You can turn anything into a brush, I have m&m's, candy hearts, rocks, money, coins, snowflakes.
