Photoshop Brushes

I am gaining interest in using brushes. I see that some people can use a brush and create multi-colors on an object, for example a butterfly. I use a butterfly brush, but when I try to color it, it doesn't turn out so hot. It looks like my youngest son took out the crayons lol. How do they make it look like it's been colored correctly? I use PSE 8, but anyone who knows with 7 is good too.

You could try selecting your butterfly (or whatever) by holding down Ctrl and clicking that image in the layers palette and then select the Gradient Tool over on the left and dragging over the image.

Just found another way. If you go into the brush palette when you have a brush selected, the 5th option down on the left is 'Colour Dymanics' if you play around with the settings in here and foreground and background colours you can come up with some lovely variations - happy playing - Lesley x

I have CS2 but things are usually the same - if you look at top drop-down menus top left and select 'window' you will see a list of options drop down, one of them being Brushes, this will give you the brush palette. Hope this is the same for you. Lesley x
