software programs
I bought a new computer - windows 8 and I can not find free scrapbook software for this computer. I have gimp and when I fix a picture like I want it, I can only save it in the gimp format. I wanted to save it as a .png but it won't let me. I can not open it with any other program to view it. Any scrapbook software out there to help me with this problem? I would like to put multiple pictures on one page to print unto decal paper.

When using Gimp you have to EXPORT the file instead of save it.In the "Export menu" you will be able to save it in jpg png and many other format.Hope this will help you.

Hi Tramp, If you want to try a neat, free scrapbooking software you might want to try Serif's Craft Artist Compact. Go to DaisyTrail.com and download. You will have to join their site, however it is free, also. It is the watered down version of their full, for pay scrapbooking software. I think you will enjoy it. Good Luck!! Maggie

Thanks for everyone's help. Been working pretty much so haven't been here lately. I have paint on my computer but have not looked into it in depth. I don't remember all the programs I had on my windows XP computer but there were about 4 of them including Scrapbook Flair. I would use each one for different scrap pages. Will Scrapbook Flair work on windows 8?

To all, I have had many problems trying to download and install many different programs, such as MM, and Craft Artist, ect, etc. etc. including here. I finally gave up, and began making ALL my kits and graphics on the free Pixlr program online. I can access it anywhere. My warning is stay way clear of programs like Serif, (which used to be good many years ago) that now comes bundled with many malicious, even flagged spyware, and other nasties like the Conduit virus.
Anyway, I make scrap kits, embellishments, fashion designs, masks, etc.... all using pixlr. It will even open up a PSD file, as long as it isn't too huge... Save in png, jpg, and in PXD file, while is layered. When I sell kits, I try to add both the png or jpg files, as well as a pxd file, with instruction on how to open and use it. Best of all it is free, and very versatile. I also use Photoscape sometimes, but hardly ever anymore. SumoPaint is another free online program, but Pixlr rocks!
