waterproof cameras
Has anyone got one? I am going snorkelling soon and wondered if they were any good. We have tried the waterproof throw away ones with very mixed results so I thought I might invest in a digital one. I would be please to learn of your experiences. Lesley x

I took a waterproof camera to Centre Parcs with us in February, but water got in and non of the photos came out :( I have since bought a waterproof casing for my compact camera, but have not tried it yet. I look forward to hearing if anyone has had any success with waterproof cameras.

Hello Lesley. I bought the Pentax waterproof point and shoot. The Waterproof cameras give you info as to how far down you can take them, and for how long they can be submerged. Mine has fell in the swimming pool. It was retrieved within about 5 minutes, and it only went in about 3 ft. So that isn't a good test, but supposedly they should handle at least 10 to 15 ft for about 30 minutes. If that doesn't do it for you, you might want to try the waterproof housing, as Jax mentioned. Good Luck. I use mine just so I can take pictures of the kids by the pool and at the beach without worrying about water.

my niece has a water proof camera she uses at the beach and the pool but it isn't really used under water, just as a precaution I think. I'd buy a waterproof casing if you can find one for your camera.

Thanks for your comments, I thought it would be easier if I just had to take a camera and not a housing as well, but this might all be irrelevant
if the planes are not flying again, we might not be able to go!!!! We are supposed to fly on Saturday and are keeping everything crossed. Lesley x
