Following Rules...

This statement above "Absolutely nothing (excet the background paper) can be on the other three-quarters of the page." Disqualify's 8 of the 15 pages. :( Will the pages not following the rules be allowed to remain? Not sure how this works any more.

My understanding of the rules was that the embellishments should be on either the left or right side of the page, taking up just one quarter of the whole page. Is this correct?

Was curious about that too.

I don't see 8 pages that should be disqualified as the rules do not state that a plain BG must be used so if the BG has a design or pattern, that is not breaking the rules as I see it.

I understood the quarter of the page was a vertical quarter as that is the only way you can use a side of it. If it was cut equally into squares how would you decide if it was top or bottom or on the side?

Well the challenge said On the Side. So my pages I made with my elements on the side. Seems there's always some kind of confusion going on anymore, was not like that when I joined. Seems all the fun has been taken out of it. Now it seems that ppl are not voting on pages, which is very discouraging, since we all take time to make these pages. I think some will agree on the way I feel, I think it has run lots of our friends off, so I hope we can get back to really like it used to be.

I'm sorry I haven't checked in until today (I have been accepted to sell at a digital store and every spare minute is being spent getting things updated and uploaded). Anyway, I have viewed all the scraps currently entered and each and every one of them meets the challenge requirements. As stated by others, background papers come in a vast array of designs other than solid colors. My intent for this challenge was to get us to focus our efforts on just a small portion of the page area available. I didn't intend for everyone to only be able to use solid colored background papers, so those that have used backgrounds with subtle designs are not disregarded any rules. I hope this helps better explain this challenge. :) Dawn

Dawn I don't think it was background papers that people are concerned about but those who put their elements in a top or bottom square rather than down the side. You are the challenge owner and what you say goes - end of discussion. Hopefully people will vote more in this challenge.

well I thought it meant to divide the paper into 4 sections and use only one of the sections and not have it going up the side so I guess we all read something into the directions..

and this is where my idea came from
"Imagine the page divided into four equal portions, now everything has to stay within either the far right quarter or far left quarter of the page. "
Right or wrong I got my pg done and enjoyed doing it ...
