I think you can alter the picture. That's I guess what I did. The picture I used was all black and white and I added the purple and fairies to it as well as scraped around it. I think the idea is to kind of expand or intemperate the picture the way you want.

sorry, i just saw this. yes, it is ok to alter the photo. it would be nice to tell us how you've altered it in the page description. also other people can see more clearly the work you put into it if you describe the alteration.
