I'm Confused!

First, there were so many beautiful and talented scraps entered in this challenge and by no means do I think my scrap even came close to the creativity displayed by the other members who joined this challenge. But I’m a little confused!
I understood the challenge to be about jellyfish, not relatives of jellyfish. After al, if a challenge is suppose to be about me, I don’t expect to see someone scrap my brother, Uncle, Aunt, etc. I also understood the challenge to be educational. Your COC was nicely scrapped, but it was not about jellyfish and it was not educational! What happened?

dear linda - i read that true jellyfish or scyphozoa number only about 200 species; the box jellyfish in the strictest sense is not even a true jellyfish since it is a cuboza - although a relative of the scyphozoa. but i also read that in the broadest sense other free-swimming planktonic carnivores that are generally transparent or translucent are also considered as jellyfish even by some scientists. it is confusing for one who is not an expert especially since other species and varieties of jellyfish are still being discovered and classified. i didn't make any distinction between true jellyfish and related jellies because this could even be more confusing.

i hosted this challenge because i wanted to learn more about this interesting subject. i didn't know of the type of jellyfish featured by simsage before which was another reason why i chose it as COC. i can only make a judgment as a non-expert. if i made a mistake, i'm quite willing to correct it but i don't have enough information to make me conclude that i did make a mistake. thank you for sharing your thoughts - kate.

it is hard to choose a coc when all scraps are so well done and therefore "equal." believe me i looked at each entry several times. all things thus being equal, how does one choose? i considered choosing one among those that made use of a personal photo - rons monkey, tuli2010, katydid73, missclh - or from those made by new members - grannytee, poetry n motion, dyozah, missclh -- but i still couldn't choose just one. so i chose one that took a unique approach which also happened to be a top scrap based on people's vote. i'm sorry if i disappoint.

Kate,
You definitely didn’t disappoint me! But since you are interested in jellyfish, here are a few websites that include list a few of the many jellyfish species. Note that the box jellyfish is included in both lists. Hope they are informative and interesting for you.

I graciously removed my scrap from your challenge, as I wouldn’t want to leave a scrap that the challenge owner thought didn’t meet their requirements.
Regards, Linda

thanks for the links, i'll check them out. but that's why it's so confusing, true jellyfish species won't include the box jelly as looking into the classification they belong to a different family. and all the scraps in the challenge, including yours, did meet challenge requirements as far as i know that was why it was hard to choose a coc. hugs-kate

I know this is after the fact, but I just came across these comments. I got all my info by googling Jellyfish on the web. I know that at least one other person used the "Box Jellyfish" because it is the most dangerous, if you type in Jelly fish in Google this is one of 281,000 facts they give you about "JellyFish" http://animals.nationalgeographic.com/animals/invertebrates/box-jellyfish.html, if they call it a Jellyfish who am I to question that??

Well I got mixed up, with my 2 entries, the box Jellyfish was not the one that is causing the problem. If you Google the Jellyfish Rosacea, you find 7, 800 entries, all calling it a Jellyfish, so my point remains,

The educational part, just ONE item was required, is the fact that it is a Carnivirous predator unlike most of the others of its species.
