PROUD MUMMY says:
my mum is called julia here is her story (bit long sorry!)
my heart is breaking for my dear mother, for those that do not know the story, i'll give you a brief story, for a few months my mum was suffering from anaemia, it gradually got worse but no one thought anything of it as back in august she had a baby and lots of women become anaemic especially after having a baby, then she started to lose weight, a lot of weight, she had no appetite was tired all the time and kept getting stomach pains. my mum put it down to having had a baby, her health visitor said she probably had post natal depression! in february she had had enough and was worried about the weight loss, so she went for a blood test. that next weekend her brothe sadly passed away so she went to london to be there in his last hours. on the monday it was her brothers funeral, before she left for the funeral she got a phone call from her gp telling her she needed to go straight to hospital as her bloods had come back showing a problem, possibly an internal bleed! mum decided to say goodbye to her brother and through the pain she was in (she had started to get bad pain over the weekend) she still got through the funeral - which just shows the sort of person who my mum is! when she got to the hospital she was in so much pain it was a struggle for her to walk. she had various tests and it turned out there was a tumour in her colon (bowel) that had to be removed right away. that wednesday she went down to theatre for what was supposed to be a straight forward 2 hour operation, it turned into 5 hours!, the tumour had perforated her bowel, if she had left it any longer it would have certainly killed her! the doctors said that the tumour had been there for at least 18 months to 2 years! in this time she had had a baby! (my miracle sister molly!) she had been trying for 3 years (during which time she suffered a miscarriage) and she fell pregnant one week after i found out i was pregnant(my little miracle sister molly!) the operation took its toll and mum is left with a scar from her chest down to her pubic area. she then started chemo, chemo is a very hard journey to face with some very painful side affects, so far she has had three sessions and has three left to get through. mum says it is so painful she can understand why people stop getting treatment! after her first course of chemo she got burgled, my 10 yr old sister was to scared to even sleep in her bedroom that night, so she stayed here for the night! at the weekend mum started to feel pains in her stomach, she spoke to the doctor and after an examination was told she had a blood clot in her stomach and that she had to go into hospital weds (today) to be treated. it turns out that there is a few big blood clots in the arteries between her bowels (what bowels she has left that is!) and her liver. now she has to inject herself in her stomach with a drug called warfarin (she cant have tablets because of her chemotherapy )everyday for 3 months to get rid of the clots. i dont know what there is left for life to through at her but god i so hope that things start improving for her, all she wants is to be happy and see her children grow up, i hate to see what my mum is going through and i feel so useless i wish i could help her. life can be so cruel.
