Author tulip_designs says: In paint.net: Open the image you want to use. Add a blank layer on top of the image. Type your text in blank layer. Position text where you want it on the picture. Select text and invert selection (ctrl + i). Turn off text layer. Go to picture layer (you should be able to still see the selection outline of the text). Erase around the text.
