PSP instructions to obtain word layout result

In PSP 9 open a new image (i used 800x800 transparent bkg.) select all.. grab picture copy and paste INTO selection. (use raster deform tool resize and correct aspect ratio if necessary. With selection tool set at rectangle.. activate ruler, select bottom of picture at about 650 down to bottom.. Edit/ Copy and then delete the selection..you now have a transparent area at the bottom of your pic. .activate text tool..foreground null background black (or any dark color) Vector style and type word..move to bottom in transparent area and resize, expand as necessary. convert to raster.. using magic wand hold shift key down and select each letter. delete..you word is now selected. Copy and paste as a new layer the part of pic you deleted. move to bottom in transparent area
your word selection should still be active..Choose selection invert and hit the delete key. Adjust layer to pic and add drop shadow, layers merge visible. File export, jpg optimizer and save. I am sure there are other ways but this was easiest and quickest for me.
