My Grandmothers Remedy was: ONION SYRUP
Used as a cough syrup and worked great.
Pint fruit jar Onions Sugar flat and ring
Grandma would slice the onion in about 1/8 or so size slices. Layer one onion slice, sprinkle with a half teaspoon sugar. Continue layering until jar is about 3/4 full. Place flat and ring on top. Place in shelf or icebox for about 2 weeks to cure. Take a teaspoon full for coughing when you have a cold.
I hate raw onions, LOL, and I hated taking this. It worked (if you could get by the smell and taste). Grandma would almost have to hog tie me to get this down me, but she always managed to do just that.
My Mom loved it, course she liked raw onions too! My Aunts and Uncles still use this to this day.

My remedy was a banana peel! You are supposed to cut a piece of the peel and tape it over a wart, and the wart goes away (though not over night) I have never tried it, but my cousin did and she swears it works.

My remedy was you take 3 sips of water from a cup upside down to get rid of the hiccups!! It's sorta hard to explain. But, my dad used to tell us to do this growing up. It actually worked for us and the whole family still does it to this day, even all the people who have been added to it!!

My remedy was a very simple yet effective one.... A little Whiskey or Brandy on the fingertip and a quick rub on the gums for a teething baby. I never actually did it to my kids but my Grandmother swore by it, maybe that is why my Mother never really drank alchohol (except an occasional glass of wine - LOL).

Mine was Vinegar, salt and a brown paper bag. Momma would soak the brown paper bag in vinegar until it was really wet then pour salt on the bag and put it over a sprained ankle or wrist. This would relieve the pain. Being the tomboy that I was, she used this a lot on me.LOL

Sorry, forgot to post it...
My Mother's Home Remedy was: blowing smoke rings in our ears to make our earache feel better! YUCK!!! I hated it... but honestly it did help. My Mom still smokes but does it outside while at my house because I have children with asthma who can't handle smoke.
As far as I know nobody guessed mine, I was finally able to stump everyone : )

my remedy was sap froma tree, we called the bubble of sap a MURR BLADDER, close up a cut, and smear the sap on. it would hold it together really well, as good as stitches, and left hardly any scar. my nan would show me where she cut her thumb and the dr stitched it and left a scar. and on her palm she used the Murr Bladder and it was so nice and clean hardly any scar.

My great-grandparents said that a mixture of blackstrap molasses and sassafras tea was a spring tonic to thin the blood and make you vigorous.
It probably did make you vigorous -ly run outside to throw up... I don't know if it helped thin the blood (or why you would want to thin your blood...) ; )
