I've enjoyed this challenge a lot. I've also learned from it - having researched on the net and talked with a couple of people who studied art - I've discovered other artists and learned a bit more about scrapping a masterpiece. For instance, I've learned that it is important to know the period or movement that the artist represents and his particular style to ensure that your scrap is in harmony and consistent with the original artwork. If an artist is known for color and lighting, for example, your scrap should bring that out. I hope you also enjoyed and learned from this challenge.

CHALLENGE OWNER'S CHOICE: TOP 7 FAVORITES (in no particular order):

I had given a 10 to many entries in this challenge, but in my humble opinion, these are the most outstanding entries:

1. Scrap a Masterpiece Challenge - MEMEKATHY. How fun to replicate the playfulness of this Picasso painting then let it inspire you to make an absolutely, delightfully artistic and unusual scrap.

2. Scrap a Masterpiece-Alma Tadema 4 - VROON1188. Two of Tadema's paintings were cleverly blended together yet the whole scrap maintains the luxurious lifestyle, white marble, blue mediterranean sea features that Tadema is known for.

3. Vincent VanGogh: choose the right path - MOMYKITTY. Real masterpieces from one of the greatest painters of all time were scrapped in a way that gives us a deeper understanding of the artist's passionate and tormented soul.

4. Princess Bariatinsky by Bertel Thorvaldsen - MOONGIRL. Layout, color, the fine curvaceous elegance of the border and the classic font so harmoniously match this beautiful painting, making it an appropriate tribute - not just to the artist but to elegant beauty, grace and finesse.

5. Claude Monet - BBB. All the beauty of a Monet nature landscape art can be seen in this beautiful painting and in the way it was scrapped, inviting a closer look so you can take it all in.

6. Michaelangelo Tribute - WILDFIRESCRAPBOOKING. Well chosen frame and font consistent with the painter's period and style plus brilliant cropping make this an outstanding scrap.

7. Van Gogh - GYPSYJ. Beautiful, interesting scrap - i love the background, the framing and color combination. It's like walking into an art museum and getting a breathtaking sampling of the best of van gogh.

Final Challenge Owner's Choice will be made on the last day, from among those who didn't win 1st and 2nd places.
