Art is Good for the Soul!
Something to Look Forward To...
|
Rummaging through flea markets, starting a new collection or planting a spring garden are all noble hobbies, but none of them ever fulfilled me the way Art could!
Art is special to me because it allows me to express things I don’t necessarily have words to describe. My final creations always carry little pieces of me which openly reveal who I might be…
Take it from me---Art is a major de-Stress-a-fier! It helps me with my depression & anxiety and is a great equalizer as far as mental, physical & emotional health is concerned!
Starting a new Art project means you’re not constantly thinking about work, annoying neighbors, irritating relatives, your health, your bills, or household chores. It means you won’t be watching boring reruns on TV all the while looking at your watch just waiting for bedtime arrive.
Working on a hobby regularly can be very therapeutic in the long run. It’s extremely stimulating for the brain, it helps exercise your stiff body parts, and promotes a feeling of rejuvenation. It’s good medicine without all the side effects! LOL!
For me, and I imagine for many other people, a good hobby helps boost creativity, self esteem, passion, pleasure and sense of accomplishment.
If you know someone who suffers a chronic illness, (I have Fibromyalgia), consider telling them about starting a new hobby. Let them know it’s not about how well they can “do” Art; it’s about how much pleasure they will derive from doing it.
There’s all kinds of Art including drawing, painting, composing music, singing, dancing, photography, making hand-crafts, pouring soap or molding candles, cross-stitching, writing poetry, wood-carving, etching, glass-staining ----just to mention a few.
I know there are many people out there who have a natural inclination toward an art form they’re probably not even aware of…
Cultivating such a hobby means you get to find a niche that you are comfortable with which will develop into something meaningful for You!
For me, my Art provides a feeling of Zen. It allows me to forget about my worries (even for a brief moment) as I get lost in my artistic endeavors. Oh, and I’m ok knowing that I won’t ever be a Michelangelo! LOL!
So please, don’t forget to share your Artistic passions with others as it can result in lasting friendships----and if you’re willing to believe in something, believe that “Art is Good for the Soul”!
