My Baby Girl " Dailene"
|
Post Text |
She was quite a surprise, but a joy to us all,
She grew up too fast, always having a ball.
With a mind of her own, had to learn for herself,
She seemed to put her feelings upon a top shelf.
With never a care or so it seemed,
Ran away from home at the age of fourteen.
She thought she had met the man of her life,
But all he gave her was misery and strife.
Out of that mistake something good came,
A sweet little girl, Amanda's her name.
A few years later she met another guy,
But short was that dream, as he had a roaming eye.
Again a mistake, but came a bundle of joy
This time our Michael, a precious little boy.
She says many lessons, she has now learned,
But to get other respect, it has to be earned.
A nurse she wants to be, so it's to school at last,
I know she'll be a good one, with no questions asked.

It took years before Dailene got a level head on her shoulders, but now one couldn't ask for a better daughter. Sometimes I think it might have been her sisters death that helped her grow up. She hasn't made it to nurses school yet, but she is in the medical field as a Medical Assistant and doing very well. She is on her fourth husband, but I am sure he is a keeper. She finally chose someone a lot like her Daddy and we love him as if he were our own son. We told her if this marriage didn't work, she could leave and we will keep him...(-: They have been married 5 years, the others never made it past the first year.

When our daughter was killed in a car wreck in 1996, I started writing poems, a type of therapy I suppose.
Well actually I had written a few before then, but many I didn't think to keep and boy am I sorry about that now.
Any way I decided to post them here to share. |
