for the show me your bird challenge. Although not a pretty bird the sparrow always seems to show up at everyone's bird feeder (as do squirrels) pushing the more colourful birds away.

This is such a lovely page - beautiful layout. We too, here in NZ, have this bird - and yes they can be a pest. They fight with the starlings, myna birds and blackbirds for attention at the feeder and the bird bath in our garden - always most entertaining.
