I am trying desperately to get through my first layout, but every time I try to add an embellishment on top of my photos (I have successfuly done the background paper, another paper on top of that, and three photos). Every time I import one, there is this big white border around it and I can't get rid of it. I want only the little embellishment to show and let the rest show my papers and photos. Can any one help me? Thanks so much!

Is the white border a part of the element that you are importing? If there is a white border that won't go away on your element, it sounds like that is the way that the object was made to look. If it's just a bunch of extra white space, are you selecting just the element when you are importing it into your layout? I use Photoshop 7.0 so I'm not really familiar with PSE, but I'm sure that the actions are similar.

I have pse 5.0 . Try placing instead of importing .
Also does your element say it's a png . As only png's have no background . You can open your element separately and if it has a white background you can use the magic extractor to get rid of it .Then save as a png . When finished you can then drag your new element onto the page you are working with . I do it all the time .
