organising my scrapbooking

Hi! I need help organising my scrapbooking.
I have never even paper scrapped, so I don't have any knowledge of how to organise an area for conventional scrapbooking, let alone set up a "virtual" workshop on my computer. I have a dedicated scrapbooking folder on an external 250Gb drive, which is a little messy, as I'm inclined to download all information, tutorials and products I can find.
The folder is already 5.44Gb in size, so I could certainly use some advice/ideas.

Well I am pretty new myself, but I just keep different sub folders in my "scrapbooking" folder.

Layouts - has a SF subfolder for official kits from SF then Freebies folder (with names intact so I know who to credit) This sometimes gets to be a pain cause I want to put all the bkgds, embellishments etc in seperate folders...but then don't have a good way to keep track for credit purposes without renaming all the files

My Stuff - LO and stuff I created goes here (yea its pretty empty at the moment, hope to rectify that soon!)

Finished pages - has print quality subfolder and then an upload quality folder.

Unfinished folder - for SF project files and for stuff I am working on in other programs, not yet finished

Tutorials - yep all tuts go here, sub folders for different types of tuts....bkgds, word art etc..

Thanks for the advice, not quite sure where to begin but perhaps I'll start first with any item that has a designer name attached. It might help me from getting in a bigger muddle, and consequently unable to credit anyone.
