On the embellishments with the white backgrounds, make sure they are in a format that supports transperancy such a gif or png. For my pages, personally, I have used photoshop, paint shop pro, and Scrapbook Factory Deluxe. These all work very well for making pages and the first 2 mentioned can be used to remove the white backgrounds. Let me know if you have any more question and I will try to help!
