page size and software

Hi all,
I am just now getting into digital scrapping. I have fought involvement because my sister is an avid scrapbooker (not digital) and she has been after me to check out the digital format because I like graphics, etc. Ok, my question is what size do you make your pages? The normal size is usually 12 x 12 but going digital....you have to consider printing. You can print that size at home so what do you all do?
Also, do you need a software program? Or just a graphic program?
Thanks
Debbe

not unless you have A printer that can print that size. I usually do my pages in 5X7's or 8X10's

Some people will save them on CD's and then take them to a photo printer to print 12x12. If you don't want to do that, then you will either need a printer that will print 12x12 or make your pages smaller to fit your printer. HTH
