Sharing some Graphic Arts Tips

Someone helps me evaluate the entries in the challenges I run. I call him my Graphic Arts guru. Here are some lessons I've learned from him:

(1) Do not overpower or drown the image with embellishments. The main image is the star!

(2) Consider the types, textures and colors of the background, borders, frames and embellishments - are they related or relevant to the image?

(3) Do not distort images or frames without a reason.

(4) Keep the page well balanced - make sure it does not appear to be falling down or falling to one side, and

(5) Let the image inspire you to create something of your own; don't just put the image in a frame or decorate it with embellishments - situate the image, create a setting for it, weave a good story and tell us as best you can via visuals or visuals and text.

I hope you find these tips helpful.
