Hello everyone...well my son seen the psychiatrist today and he said that he maybe autistic. I am really not sure because he dont seem to me to be autistic but who knows I am not the one with the degree. I am taking him in for a second opinion as soon as I can get in into see a child psychiatrist. This is really stressful...not know is so hard and you dont know what to expect and they wont diagnosis him as autistic untill he has spent more time with the psychiatrist. I dont know....

It takes time for the doctors to figure things out. Some symtoms of mental illness overlap. I know how difficult it is to wait. The important thing is he is getting treatment and has support from his family. I've been going through this for 10 years with my daughter. Hope everything works out for you.

I would get a second and third opinion and see if there is a team at the school that can observe him. I know I have trouble sometimes being among people and your son may be like that too! Medicine in psychiatry seems to be an art not a science and is more trial and error. I would trust what you know about your son and be his advocate. My son went to a special school and is now very successful and on his way to his masters degree. I will keep you both in my thoughts.
